Bhavan's Cultural Center, Andheri

Chairman's Message.........

Friends,

We are happy to present a pictorial overview of the activities during the inaugural year of Bhavan's Cultural Centre at Andheri, Mumbai - an initiative dedicated to Shri Munshiji's simply stated but profound thoughts on:

Bhavan's mission…

"…a symbol of the intellectual, literary, educational, ethical, cultural and spiritual life of Indian flowing through the centuries."

With an objective,

"…to provide a modern bridge to span the, present and the future, built on the strong foundation of the fundamental values of life."

The changing geography of Mumbai city has transformed Andheri with a cosmopolitan representation, akin to what Chowpatty was in earlier times. This is evident from high audience presence for the programmes offered during the past year.

Activities at Bhavan's Cultural Centre are guided by dedicated team of staff coordinated by Shri Lalit Shah, and comprising of Lalit Verma, Nishita Tambe, Lalitha Dhara and some others, a group, which includes volunteers, and the one that is expected to grow.

We derive satisfaction in fulfilling the expectations of Shri Munshiji, who stated, "The real strength of the Bhavan would lie not so much in the number of its buildings…. Nor in the volume of its assets and budgets… It would lie in the character and quality of its devoted friends and workers."

May we seek your blessing and suggestions of how we can become more effective in propagating Bhavan's ideas through this new centre in its infancy?
